Eternity's the distance it takes me to fall
from loving your imperfections to ignoring your call.
Eternity's the depth of the flowing of bliss,
from the instant I saw you to our last kiss.
Eternity's the punishment I'll take in your stead,
If it keeps you alive, the tears of suffering shed.
But our time is not eternity so no promise I'll make,
save to keep you from eternal heartbreak.
I'll hate you forever in the depths of my hell,
with the demons of your laughter and bliss to compel.
Forever you gave me to live with your deed,
to forget the use of tears to water my seed.
Forever I'll chase you, perfecting my flight,
To one day be able to measure my plight.
But forever's a long time to wait for your call,
So I promise to await your rebirth is all.

Literally it describes a hopeless romantic kind of relationship but its also meant to be a commentary on relationships and men and women.The first stanza is supposed to be of the perspective of a guy who in his need to protect his love from harm-even herself- he makes a sacrifice for her. The second stanza is her reaction and perspective after. She doesn't understand his sacrifice and instead of utilizing it becomes hateful both at herself for letting it happen and him for doing such a 'stupid' action that now haunts her but she still loves him.
